PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: January 20 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how the Ethos Everywhere Chrome Extension ("Extension") handles data. This policy applies only to the Extension and is separate from the Ethos Network Privacy Policy, which governs the main Ethos platform.
Contact: help@ethos.network
What the Extension Does
Ethos Everywhere displays Ethos credibility scores while you browse supported websites. The Extension:
- Reads publicly visible usernames and wallet addresses from web pages you visit
- Queries the Ethos API to retrieve credibility scores for those identifiers
- Displays the scores inline on the page
- Optionally allows authenticated users to submit reviews (requires wallet connection)
By default, the Extension is a read-only viewer. If you choose to authenticate with your Ethos account and submit reviews through the Extension, those reviews are recorded on the blockchain and governed by the Ethos Network Privacy Policy.

Data Collection From Third-Party Sites
The Extension automatically reads publicly visible information from web pages you visit on supported third-party sites. This is how we provide the core feature of displaying credibility scores as you browse.

How This Works
- The Extension reads information that is already displayed on the page you are viewing
- This information is sent to the Ethos API to retrieve credibility scores
- We do not access private data, logged-in account information, or APIs from these third-party sites
- We do not purchase data or receive data feeds from third parties
Data Not Stored
The usernames and wallet addresses read from third-party sites are transmitted to our API but not stored. We use them only to look up and return the corresponding Ethos scores.
Data Transmission
When you visit a supported site, the Extension sends requests to the Ethos API:
- What is sent: Usernames, handles, or wallet addresses visible on the page
- What is returned: Ethos credibility scores and public profile information
- Security: All transmissions use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- No tracking: We do not log which pages you visit or build browsing profiles
Data Storage
Local Storage (Chrome)
- Extension settings and preferences
- Installation identifier for daily rewards
Ethos Servers
- Daily check-in records (linked to your installation ID)
- Stored in Google Cloud SQL with standard security measures
Error Monitoring (Sentry)
- Diagnostic data is sent to Sentry only when the Extension encounters errors
- Payloads are minimized to exclude sensitive information
- Used solely for bug fixing and stability improvements
Data Retention

International Data Transfers
Your data is processed in the United States. Ethos Network, Inc. is based in Austin, Texas, and our servers are hosted in the US. By using the Extension, you acknowledge that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
Automated Decision-Making
We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling. Credibility scores displayed by the Extension are derived from public blockchain data and user-submitted reviews on the Ethos Network—not from automated analysis of your behavior.
Social Graph Data
The Extension displays social graph data from the Ethos Network, including:
- Who has vouched for a particular user
- Who has reviewed a particular user
- Credibility relationships between users
This social graph data is derived from vouches and reviews submitted by Ethos users and is stored on Ethos servers. The Extension displays this information to help you understand the credibility context of the profiles you view.
What the Extension Does NOT Do
The Extension does not:
- Automatically record data on the blockchain (reviews and vouches require explicit user action)
- Access your social media accounts or credentials
- Store your browsing history
- Track you across websites
Note about profiles for non-users: The Extension may display Ethos data (scores, reviews, vouches) for individuals who have not created an Ethos account. This data exists because other Ethos users have submitted reviews or vouches referencing those individuals. The Extension displays this existing data but does not create it.
If you submit reviews through the Extension or use the main Ethos platform (ethos.network), that activity is governed by the Ethos Network Privacy Policy, which includes important information about blockchain data permanence.
Blockchain Data and Permanence
The Ethos Network operates on Base, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain. Data recorded on the blockchain is permanent and cannot be deleted by anyone, including Ethos.
What Is Stored on the Blockchain
When users interact with the Ethos Network (via the Extension or ethos.network), the following data may be recorded permanently on the Base blockchain:
- Reviews and vouches: The content, author, and subject of reviews and vouches
- Hashed identifiers: When someone is reviewed or vouched for, a cryptographic hash of their identifier (e.g., Twitter handle, wallet address) is stored on-chain
Important: Data About Non-Users
The Ethos Network may contain data about individuals who have not created an Ethos account. For example:
- If an Ethos user vouches for a Twitter account, a hash of that Twitter handle is recorded on the blockchain—even if the Twitter account owner has never used Ethos
- This data is permanent and cannot be deleted
Passive Browsing
Passive browsing (viewing scores without submitting reviews or vouches) does not create any blockchain records.
If You Submit Reviews or Vouches
- Your submissions are recorded permanently on the Base blockchain
- This data cannot be deleted by anyone, including Ethos
- You should only submit reviews or vouches if you understand and accept this permanence
- See the Ethos Network Privacy Policy for full details
Your Rights and GDPR
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting help@ethos.network.
For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
- Restriction: Request that we limit processing of your data
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise these rights, contact help@ethos.network.
Blockchain Disclaimer (Important for GDPR)
Blockchain data is public information stored and processed by third parties, not Ethos, and we therefore have no ability to modify or correct such data, nor to control or limit any other person's access to or processing of such data.
Certain data cannot be deleted due to the nature of blockchain technology:
- If your identifier (e.g., Twitter handle, wallet address) has been hashed and recorded on the blockchain as part of a vouch or review, that hash is permanent and cannot be deleted by anyone, including Ethos
- This applies even if you have never created an Ethos account—if another user has vouched for or reviewed you, a hash of your identifier exists on-chain
- The "right to erasure" under GDPR cannot be fulfilled for blockchain data because deletion is technically impossible
- We can delete your server-side data (daily check-ins, installation identifiers) upon request
Before submitting vouches or reviews, understand that this creates permanent blockchain records that cannot be removed.
Data You Control
- Extension settings: Stored locally; deleted when you uninstall the Extension
- Server-side data: Daily check-in records and installation identifiers can be deleted upon request
Data Displayed by the Extension
The credibility scores and profiles displayed by the Extension come from the Ethos Network. To manage that data, see the Ethos Network Privacy Policy.
Uninstallation
Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data. Server-side records can be deleted upon request to help@ethos.network.
Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via the Chrome Web Store listing or the Extension interface.
