EIP-15: Social Impact Boost v2

Ethos
April 23, 2026

There's a huge amount of social signal out there about existing credibility — from X, Farcaster, GitHub, and beyond — and Ethos was barely using it. EIP-15, Social Impact Boost v2, changes that.

What EIP-15 Does

EIP-15 helps users WITH established profiles get more credibility score from their existing credibility graphs. If you've spent years building a real presence across the internet, that history now counts for more on Ethos.

Why It Matters

Your reputation didn't start the day you joined Ethos:

X - Years of followers, engagement, and community standing

Farcaster - Decentralized social graphs with real signal

GitHub - A track record of actual contributions and code

These graphs are expensive to fake and rich with credibility information. EIP-15 taps them as an input to the Ethos score.

The Balancing Act

This lands alongside EIP-14's crackdown on review-cycle farming — and that's not a coincidence. The two work in tandem:

EIP-14 reduces score earned from closed local review loops

EIP-15 boosts score from genuine, external social signals

Together, they shift credibility away from what's easy to farm and toward what's hard to fake.

Part of the Ongoing EIP Process

Like every Ethos Improvement Proposal, EIP-15 went through the community process in public. It's the fifteenth public iteration of the scoring algorithm — because reputation systems have to evolve faster than the people trying to game them.
