On June 4, 2025, @BoredElonMusk opened a slash against @a1lon9 on Ethos, seeking to cut 65 points from @a1lon9’s credibility score. At the time, Ethos rated @BoredElonMusk as “reputable” and @a1lon9 as “neutral.”
The case drew attention because a slash on Ethos doesn’t only affect the account being slashed. If it succeeded, dozens of people who had backed @a1lon9 stood to lose credibility too.
The accusation
@BoredElonMusk summed up the case in a single line, accusing @a1lon9 of causing “long-lasting damage to the Solana ecosystem.” The posts don’t go into further detail on the argument behind the slash.
@a1lon9’s standing on Ethos
Before the slash, @a1lon9’s profile looked broadly positive:
- 65 reviews, 95% of them positive
- 1 vouch for 0.02 ETH
- 62 supporters backing the account
That broadly positive record now faced a one-line accusation from an account Ethos rated as reputable.
Supporters had something at stake
Ethos noted that @a1lon9’s 62 supporters also risked losing score. According to Ethos, if the slash was successful, accounts including the following would lose credibility under EIP-3.1:
- @adamamcbride
- @serpinxbt
- @casperdefi
- @JPEG_Yakuza_
- @thegreatola
- @wang_xiaolou
- @tokenbrother
Ethos said “many more” beyond those names would be affected as well. On a network where every account’s score comes from what others say about it, backing someone carries weight, and that weight can work in both directions.
What the slash needed to move forward
When Ethos posted about it on June 4, 2025, the slash had just begun. To move forward, it required participation from 1% of active Ethos users. That threshold meant the outcome rested with the wider community rather than with @BoredElonMusk alone.
The posts don’t record whether the slash reached that participation threshold or how the vote ended.
