@BoredElonMusk opened a 150-point slash against Binance on Ethos

On October 15, 2025, @BoredElonMusk opened a slash against @binance on Ethos, seeking to cut the exchange’s credibility score by 150 points. The case came down to one line: “If you’re going to tax your customers, at least be honest about it.”

The slash put a pointed question in front of the Ethos community. Was one of the best-known names in crypto being straight with the people who use it?

The case against Binance

The slash’s title, and its whole stated argument in Ethos’s announcement, was the accusation that Binance taxed its customers without being honest about it. Ethos rated the case four peppers on its spicy scale, marking it as one of the more heated slashes on the network.

The full slash, with @BoredElonMusk’s case, was published on Ethos at app.ethos.network/activity/slash/285.

Binance’s standing before the slash

Ethos is an onchain reputation network where people review and vouch for each other, and every account gets a credibility score from what others say about it. When the slash was opened, Binance’s profile looked like this:

  • 237 reviews
  • 77% positive
  • A score of 1829, which placed it in the Reputable tier

That record shows broad support, but not universal support. Roughly three in four reviews were positive, which left a meaningful share of reviewers with a less favorable view. A slash tests whether a specific complaint resonates with the wider community, rather than resting on one person’s opinion.

Putting it to a vote

Ethos shared the slash on X and asked people what they thought, inviting them to vote.

How it ended

The posts announcing the slash don’t record the outcome of the vote, so they don’t say whether the slash was upheld or whether Binance’s score changed as a result. What they do record is the case itself: a single-sentence charge about honesty toward customers, aimed at an exchange that held a Reputable score of 1829 at the time.
