EIP-6: Penalty for Positive Reviews Downvoted by Recipient
Effective immediately: if you leave a positive review and the recipient themselves downvotes it as spam or inauthentic, your credibility takes a hit.
• Adds risk to writing reviews - Fake praise now costs the author
• Recipient-driven - The person being reviewed can flag reviews that don't reflect a real interaction

EIP-7: Neutralize Spam Reviews
Rolling out over the next 30 days: reviews identified as spam are neutralized so they no longer influence credibility scores.
• Targets review farms - Review-for-review (R4R) circles lose their score impact
• Gradual rollout - Changes spread out over 30 days to avoid sudden score shocks
• Cleaner signal - Scores reflect genuine reputation, not reciprocal farming
Why These Changes Matter
Review quality is essential for a trustworthy reputation system. These two EIPs tackle the biggest sources of noise on Ethos:
• Slop reviews - Low-effort or AI-generated praise written to farm reciprocation
• R4R rings - Coordinated "you review me, I review you" score inflation
The Results Came Fast
Within days of going live, EIP-6 led to significant score adjustments for AI slop and spam reviewers — in one case, 14 people fairly marking an account's positive reviews as spam led to a 377-point credibility loss for the offender.
