Ethos Chrome extension brings credibility scores to Farcaster

On July 30, 2025, Ethos announced an update to its Chrome extension that let @farcaster_xyz users see Ethos credibility scores directly in the Farcaster web app. The update shipped in version 1.6.0 of the extension.

For anyone using Farcaster, the change meant a person’s reputation on Ethos could show up where they were already reading and interacting, without leaving the app to check it.

What changed

With the July 30, 2025 update, Ethos enhanced its Chrome extension so that Ethos credibility scores show up directly in Farcaster’s web app.

Ethos summed up the idea in two words: “ethos everywhere.” That is also the name of the extension in the Chrome Web Store, and it describes the goal behind the update. A credibility score is most useful when it appears at the moment you’re deciding whether to trust someone, not on a separate site you have to remember to visit.

Getting version 1.6.0

Ethos noted that not every user would see the change right away. According to the team:

  • Version 1.6.0 was the version with the Farcaster functionality.
  • Users who already had the extension would receive the update automatically at some point after the announcement.
  • Anyone who wanted the update sooner could remove the extension and reinstall it to force the new version.

The extension was available from the Chrome Web Store as Ethos Everywhere.

Why it matters

Social platforms show you follower counts and activity, but those numbers don’t tell you what other people think of an account.

Bringing those scores into Farcaster’s web app put that signal next to the accounts Farcaster users were already seeing, making it easier to factor reputation into who to follow, reply to or trust.
