On February 12, 2026, Ethos shared a way to bring Ethos scores into OpenClaw agent workflows: a command-line tool called ethos-cli, published on npm. To get started, Ethos said, you could tell your agent “install ethos-cli from npm.”
For people who use AI agents to sort through X, the idea was simple. Instead of treating every account the same, an agent could take reputation into account when deciding what deserves attention.
What Ethos scores add
Ethos scores are a measure of reputation, the signal Ethos uses to pick out high-reputation users. Bringing those scores into an agent’s workflow gives the agent a signal about who is behind a post, not just what the post says.
How Ethos was using it
Ethos described two uses for the tool:
- Debriefs: Ethos said it was using ethos-cli to make sure it saw all tweets from high-reputation users in its debriefs, filtering signal from noise.
- Quick due diligence: the tool could also be used for a fast check on an X account.
The first use addresses a familiar problem with summaries of social feeds. A debrief that weighs every post equally can bury posts from credible accounts under a flood of low-quality ones. Using reputation as a filter helps make sure those posts don’t get missed.
The second use covers a more everyday need: before engaging with, trusting or following an account, it helps to know something about its standing.
Installing ethos-cli
The simplest route Ethos offered was to tell your agent “install ethos-cli from npm.” For anyone who wanted to be more specific with their agent, Ethos shared the package and source code:
- NPM package: @trust-ethos/cli
- GitHub: trust-ethos/ethos-cli
Pointing an agent at the exact package name or repository removes any guesswork about which tool to install.
