On April 28, 2026, Ethos announced that it had brought Ethos Markets into its main app. Ethos Markets let people speculate on whether someone’s reputation would go up or down. After the change, doing that took a single click, powered by the Ethos in-app wallet.
This article describes how Ethos worked at the time of that announcement. Ethos has changed since then. Most relevant here, Ethos Trade replaced the original reputation markets. XP has also become Karma, the XP seasons have ended, and invites are no longer needed.
The problem with a separate site
Before the change, Ethos Markets lived on its own site, ethos.markets. Anyone who wanted to speculate on someone’s reputation had to leave the main Ethos app and context switch into a completely separate site.
Ethos described the result as a fragmented, disconnected experience. It also said that most users didn’t even know Ethos Markets existed.
Ethos put its view of the old setup bluntly: visiting a separate site to trade reputation “sucks.”
What Ethos set out to do
Ethos laid out its goals for the change:
- Unify the experience: bring Ethos Markets together with the main Ethos app instead of keeping it on its own site
- Make it one click: let people speculate on someone’s reputation in a single click
- Use the in-app wallet: power the experience with the Ethos in-app wallet
Ethos said this made speculating on reputation easier than ever. The posts didn’t go into further detail about how the in-app wallet worked.
Why it mattered
Ethos is an onchain reputation network. People review and vouch for each other, and every account gets a credibility score from what others say about it. Ethos Markets added another way to engage with reputation: taking a view on whether a person’s standing would rise or fall.
Keeping that on a separate site meant it sat apart from the place where reviews and vouches happened, and many users never found it. Moving it into the main app put reputation markets alongside the rest of Ethos, and the one-click design removed the step of switching sites.
