Ethos Season 2 ended at 23:59 UTC on Tuesday, August 11, 2026. With it, XP stopped generating permanently. Ethos is closing out the season by returning delegated XP, sending NFTs and distributing trading competition XP before it introduces Ethos 1.0.

If you earned, delegated or traded XP during Season 2, here’s what happened at the close and what was still to come.

The announcement on August 5

On August 5, Ethos said Season 2 would end at 23:59 UTC on Tuesday, August 11, and listed what the end of the season would bring:

• XP will stop generating forever
• The trading competition concludes, and its XP is distributed
• Delegated XP is returned to those who delegated it
• NFTs go out to those who chose them
• Ethos 1.0 is introduced the week after

The team also warned anyone thinking about an extended European vacation in August that the deadline was close.

Season 2 closes on August 12

Just after 00:00 UTC on August 12, Ethos confirmed that Season 2 was officially over. The update set out where things stood:

• XP is no longer being generated
• XP is no longer required to use the app
• XP is locked from transferability
• Delegated XP will be returned on Thursday, August 13
• NFTs from the start of Season 2 will be distributed on Thursday, August 13

Two of these points are new compared with the August 5 announcement. XP is no longer needed to use the Ethos app, and the XP you hold can no longer be transferred.

Trading competition results

The trading competition ended with the season. In its August 12 update, Ethos said the results would be shared the next day, with distribution of the XP earned in the competition to follow.

What comes next: Ethos 1.0

Ethos 1.0 is planned for the week after Season 2 ended, the week of August 17. The posts don’t yet describe what Ethos 1.0 includes.

Ethos closed the season by thanking everyone for their contributions: “We look forward to seeing you on the other side.”
