On March 26, 2025, Ethos added badges to slashing comments that showed how each commenter had voted. On April 8, 2025, it followed up with a feature that let anyone see exactly who upvoted or downvoted reviews, vouches and comments, along with a new level called revered and more granular levels.
Together, the two updates brought information that already lived onchain into the Ethos app, so people could see who stood behind a vote without leaving the page.
Vote badges on slashing comments
On Ethos, people post reviews, vouches and comments that others can upvote or downvote. A slash is one way the community weighs in on an account, and people can comment on it.
With the March 26 update, comments on a slash began showing badges for how each commenter voted. Two participants also got badges of their own:
- The slasher, who brought the slash
- The defender, who answered it
Ethos described the change as onchain transparency. Reading a slash discussion, you could tell at a glance which side each commenter had voted for. In the same post, Ethos said that seeing in-app who upvoted and downvoted your content was planned next.
Who upvoted and downvoted what
That feature arrived on April 8, 2025. By clicking the circle in the bottom right of a card, users could see exactly who upvoted or downvoted:
- Reviews
- Vouches
- Comments
Ethos noted that this information had always been onchain. What changed was where you could find it: the app now showed it directly, rather than leaving it to people willing to look it up themselves.
For anyone whose content gets voted on, that means a vote is no longer just a number. You can see the accounts behind it, and judge their votes in light of their own reputation.
A new revered level and more granular levels
The second April 8 feature changed Ethos levels. Ethos added a new level, revered, and made the existing levels more granular. The posts don’t give further detail on how the levels are defined.
A teased feature
Alongside the April 8 announcement, Ethos pointed out that observant users might spot an unreleased feature in the screenshots it shared. The posts didn’t say what that feature was.
