Slash against Jesse Pollak fails on Ethos without a supermajority

Around April 17, 2025, @solashenone opened a slash against @jessepollak on Ethos. The slash failed: a supermajority consensus was not reached, so Jesse Pollak lost no credibility and @solashenone did not lose his bond.

The case shows how a slash plays out when the people weighing in don’t line up strongly enough behind it. A single accusation doesn’t settle anything on its own. The outcome depends on whether enough of the community agrees.

What happened

On Ethos, accounts carry credibility, and slashes play out onchain. A slash is a formal case one account brings against another.

In a post on April 19, 2025, Ethos reported that the slash against @jessepollak, opened by @solashenone about 48 hours earlier, had failed. Ethos summarized the result in three points:

  • No supermajority: the consensus needed for the slash to succeed was not reached
  • No credibility lost: Jesse Pollak’s standing on Ethos was not reduced
  • No bond lost: @solashenone did not lose his bond

In other words, the slash ended without a penalty for either side.

Who weighed in

The case drew responses from several well-known accounts, who chimed in onchain. Ethos named three of them:

  • @0xQuit
  • @notthreadguy
  • @sterlingcrispin

Ethos highlighted @sterlingcrispin’s response in particular, sharing it as a defense of Jesse Pollak.

Because the responses were recorded onchain, they form part of the public record of the case rather than scattered comments that might be lost or edited later.

Why the outcome matters

The requirement for a supermajority sets a high bar. A slash doesn’t succeed because someone files it, or because some people agree with it. It needs broad agreement. When that agreement isn’t there, the account being slashed keeps its credibility.

The result also shows the other side of the process. @solashenone brought the case and, with the slash failing, still did not lose his bond. The outcome left both accounts where they started, with the full discussion on record for anyone who wants to read it.

Where to see the slash
