On August 15, 2025, Ethos posted a slash alert: @lex_node was slashing @finnbags for 100 credibility score. The case centered on donations made through community memecoins, and on what happened after @finnbags was given a platform.
Ethos is an onchain reputation network where people review and vouch for each other, and every account gets a credibility score based on what others say about it. A slash is a direct challenge to that score, and this one put a specific accusation in front of the people voting on it.
The accusation
The slash was titled:
“Aura-Farmed Clout for Making Big Donations through Community Memecoins, Failed to Promote the Memecoins when Platformed”
The title makes two linked claims:
- Clout from donations: that @finnbags built up reputation, or “aura,” by making large donations through community memecoins
- No follow-through: that once @finnbags had a platform, they didn’t promote those memecoins
In short, @lex_node’s case was that the public credit @finnbags received for the donations wasn’t matched by support for the memecoins involved. Ethos shared the slash with a simple question to its followers: “What do you think?”
A missing statement
Shortly after the alert went out, Ethos added an important correction. @lex_node’s statement had not been included in the slash description. Ethos asked people to read it before voting.
Ethos also said it would manually update the slash description to include the statement. The posts don’t reproduce the text of the statement itself, so its contents aren’t covered here.
The note matters because a slash asks voters to judge a case, and a title alone gives only the headline of an argument. Ethos’s request was that voters weigh @lex_node’s full reasoning, not just the one-line summary.
Where the slash was posted
The slash was listed on Ethos as slash #209, at app.ethos.network/activity/slash/209.
The outcome
Ethos’s posts from August 15, 2025 announced the slash and flagged the missing statement. They don’t record how the vote ended or whether the slash against @finnbags was upheld.
