Slash against @loshmi over a plagiarized post blamed on AI

On January 19, 2026, @TheGodMurdoch opened a slash on Ethos against @loshmi, citing a “Plagiarized post and blamed AI.” The slash was for 243 credibility score, and Ethos noted that 70 people could be negatively affected by misplaced endorsement.

The case raised a familiar question for anyone who vouches for others: what happens to your standing when someone you backed is accused of misconduct, and how much should an admission count?

What the slash was about

The slash centered on an article @loshmi had published and later deleted. Ethos said @loshmi had already admitted the wrongdoing and pointed to a post @loshmi wrote responding to the accusations.

Ethos then asked its community directly: was it slash worthy?

@loshmi’s side of the story

In the post Ethos quoted, @loshmi said one part of the article, the nutrition section, was based on an article by N3xt. According to @loshmi, they asked ChatGPT to use that section as inspiration while adding other websites with useful information, and said ChatGPT failed to keep it short and compact, which is why it looked the way it did.

@loshmi said the rest of the article was their own writing. They listed what it covered:

  • Their story of being bullied
  • Transformation pictures
  • Daily habits and what to focus on
  • Mewing
  • A workout plan they used as a beginner
  • Nutrition, inspired by N3xt with added websites

@loshmi also responded to a ChatGPT screenshot shared by Ole that claimed similarities between the two articles. They said some overlap was expected because much of the advice is common knowledge, such as recommended sleep and supplements, and disputed specific details in the comparison. They added that they used ChatGPT to fix grammar because English is not their first language.

@loshmi said they deleted the article to avoid drama, that it was never written with ill intent, and that they had apologized to N3xt privately and were apologizing again publicly.

Why it mattered on Ethos

On Ethos, people review and vouch for each other, and each account’s credibility score reflects what others say about it. A slash puts an accusation in front of the community for a decision. In this case, Ethos flagged that the 70 people who had endorsed @loshmi could be affected, which is why the outcome mattered beyond the two accounts involved.

The slash was posted at app.ethos.network/activity/slash/353. The posts don’t record how the vote ended.
