LucaNetz defended in the first slash against an Exemplary account

On September 6, 2025, @cromeshnik, an account with an Established credibility level on Ethos, opened a slash against @LucaNetz, who held the network’s Exemplary level. It was the first time anyone with an Exemplary standing had been slashed. On September 8, 2025, the result came in: Luca was defended, and @cromeshnik lost the 207 credibility score they had put up.

The case is a useful record of how a slash plays out when it targets one of the most trusted accounts on the network, and what it costs when the community doesn’t side with the person bringing it.

The slash

@cromeshnik put up a bond of 207 credibility score to bring the slash. The headline accusation was blunt: “Cowardly Burberry scammer, liar, hypocrite, fraud not worthy of trust.” Alongside it, @cromeshnik provided an explainer of more than 5,000 words setting out the case.

The standing of the two accounts going in:

  • @cromeshnik: Established
  • @LucaNetz: Exemplary

Until then, no account at the Exemplary level had faced a slash on Ethos.

One of the most discussed slashes

The case drew attention quickly. Within its first 10 hours, it had collected 79 comments, making it one of the most talked-about slashes on Ethos at the time. The full slash, including the accusation and the discussion, is recorded at app.ethos.network/activity/slash/248.

The result

On September 8, 2025, Ethos announced the final result: Luca had been defended.

For @cromeshnik, that meant losing the bond. The 207 credibility score they had staked on the slash was gone, which moved their score and level down:

  • Before: 1619 (Established)
  • After: 1412 (Known)

Why it matters

On Ethos, every account’s credibility score comes from what others say about it. The slash against @LucaNetz showed that even accounts at the Exemplary level can be challenged, and that a challenge can draw a large, public discussion. It also showed the other side: bringing a slash put @cromeshnik’s own credibility on the line, and when the community defended Luca, that cost was real and visible in a drop from Established to Known.
