Ethos and Tako let users write Ethos reviews inside Tako’s app

On May 13, 2025, Ethos and @TakoProtocol launched what Ethos called the first ever integration that lets users write Ethos reviews natively inside another app. Through Tako’s new Props feature, users could give “props” that became Ethos reviews without ever leaving Tako’s interface.

For anyone building or using reputation onchain, this meant credibility no longer had to be recorded in one place. Ethos summed up the idea in two words: “Ethos everywhere.”

What launched on May 13, 2025

Ethos framed the announcement as a question: what about writing reviews from other products? With Tako, that became possible. Props given in Tako’s UI turned into reviews on Ethos, with no need to switch between apps.

Tako announced the partnership the same day in its own post, describing Tako Profile Props and Ethos Review as now live together. According to Tako:

  • Props appeared in every Tako profile: users who logged in to Tako saw the newly launched feature and could use it to give props to other users.
  • Activating Props led to an Ethos account: users who activated their whitelisted Tako Profile Props were automatically eligible for an Ethos account.
  • Props synced to Ethos as reviews: once activation was complete, all the props a user received on Tako were automatically synced to Ethos as Ethos reviews.

Tako called it the start of “the era of decentralized social interoperability and composability.”

How the integration worked

On May 15, 2025, Ethos pointed again to the integration, describing it as a seamless way to write reviews from Tako’s app. Tako published a longer explanation the same day, setting out how the two networks connected.

Who could take part

Props was a platform-wide feature on Tako that everyone could access. Syncing props to Ethos, however, depended on a whitelist. Tako said long-term, highly engaged Tako users were whitelisted for an Ethos invitation. To check eligibility, users clicked the “Ethos” button on their profile. Whitelisted users could then register an Ethos account and start syncing their props onchain as positive reviews.

Reviews flowed both ways

The sync was not one-directional. Tako explained that the props a user received on Tako became part of their onchain positive reviews on Ethos, and positive reviews received on Ethos showed up on their Tako profile.

Specifically, once someone became a Tako and Ethos user through the whitelist, any positive reviews they had previously received on Ethos, from people who also had a Farcaster or Tako ID, appeared on their Props profile immediately.

Why it mattered

Tako described its view that open social protocols should be interoperable and composable, and presented Props as an example of that idea in practice. It called the partnership “a small step of partnership, but a giant leap” for decentralized social protocols working together, adding that being open and collaborative is key in Web3.

For Ethos, the integration showed reviews being written where people already spend their time, rather than only on Ethos itself. A user’s reputation could be built in one app and carried into another, which is the point of “Ethos everywhere.”
