On September 9, Ethos enabled vouches to start earning $WHUF rewards. Rewards build up from that date, but they can’t be claimed until October 8, when the token is planned to become transferable.
A few days later, on September 14, Ethos added a way to see how much $WHUF was earned from each referral from the auction, right from a person’s profile.
Why vouches earn WHUF
On Ethos, a vouch is one person backing another. Ethos describes the new rewards as the network recognizing people for providing value to it. In the team’s words, “who vouches for whom is valuable signal for everyone.”
That signal is part of what makes reputation on Ethos useful. When someone vouches for another account, they’re telling the rest of the network something about who they trust. Everyone looking at that account benefits from it, and WHUF rewards are a way of acknowledging the people who supply it.
When you can claim
Vouches started earning $WHUF on September 9, but rewards can’t be claimed right away. The timeline as Ethos set it out:
- September 9: vouches begin earning $WHUF rewards
- October 8: the token is planned to become transferable, and rewards can be claimed from then
Until October 8, rewards from vouching accumulate but stay unclaimable.
See WHUF earned from each auction referral
On September 14, Ethos followed up with a new view on profiles. You can now see exactly how much $WHUF was earned from each referral from the auction by clicking the whuffie icon on a person’s profile.
This makes the breakdown visible per referral rather than as a single total, so it’s easier to see where the WHUF tied to a profile came from.
